GHANA
ATEIKU — Graduates of a preacher-training school in this West African nation have new sets of wheels to help them spread the Word. Ateiku Christian Ministries supplied 12 graduates of its Douglas Boateng School of Evangelism with motorbikes, purchased with funds from the Eastridge Church of Christ in Rockwall, Texas. The ministry also includes a hospital, a Christian school and a well-drilling program.

KENYA
NAIROBI — “College bound.”
Made in the Streets, a ministry in this East African nation, has never used those words to describe any of the at-risk children it has served since 1995. Until now. John Clinton, 21, recently qualified for university — an incredible feat, considering that he once lived on the streets of the Gikomba market.

Abuse forced him to flee his home, Clinton said, but a friend introduced him to Made in the Streets, or MITS, through the ministry’s Eastleigh campus. The nonprofit, which receives support from Churches of Christ, helped Clinton finish his studies despite the teasing he endured from other students who came from wealthy families.
“The only gift, or let’s say advantage, I had was that I had MITS’ love, care and family support, which encouraged me to never, ever, ever give up,” Clinton said. “And that was all I needed.”
PERU
IQUITOS — This South American city of a half-million souls is the largest in the world that’s only reachable by river or air.
It’s also reachable by the Gospel.

That’s the prayer of three families — Nicolas and Cecilia Acua, Wilfred and Elieny Reyes and Gabriel and Jerly Vásquez — who recently moved to this gateway city to the Peruvian Amazon with assistance from Great Cities Missions, a ministry associated with Churches of Christ. Chris Fry, the nonprofit’s Latin teams director, accompanied the team to help them get set up with apartments and bank accounts and begin church-planting.
